www.becherkluesner.com Becherkluesner@insightbb.com 812-482-4141 Dateline Bretzville, Indiana Thomas Jefferson Cook, age 91, of Bretzville, passed away at 6:57 a.m., Monday (April 30, 2012) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Sherman, Texas on February 3, 1921 to Lois Andrew and Katie Gladys (Johns) Cook. He married Wanda (Polly) LaCour on March 4, 1949 in Boonville, Indiana. She preceded him in death on July 17, 1999. Thomas worked as a telephone lineman for over 30 years, and retired from Ameritech. He was an Army Sergeant in the 36th Division Signal Corps during World War II and the Korean War. He retired from the Air Force Reserves. He was a member of the First Baptist Churches in Boonville and Tell City, and he attended the Christian Church of Jasper. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, the Tell City woodcarvers club, and the Fulda Shooting Range dedicated to World War II Veterans. He enjoyed range shooting, woodworking, playing the harmonica, checkers, and playing skip bo. Surviving, Five daughters, Mrs. Jan (Sandra) Fisher, Battle Ground, IN Mary Bass, Evansville, IN Linda Staggs-Cook, Birdseye, IN Mrs. Phil (Tina) Hostetler, Bretzville, IN Mrs. Douglas (Kimberly) Weddle, Franklin, IN 21 Grandchildren 29 Great Grandchildren Two Great-Great Grandchildren Preceding him in death besides his wife is one brother Ray Cook, three grandchildren, Dana Lin Kershaw, Cullen Thomas Housley, and Dakota Kuhn. Funeral services for Thomas J. Cook will be held at 3:00 p.m on Saturday (May 5, 2012) at the Christian Church of Jasper, with burial to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Boonville, Indiana. The VFW Post 673 will conduct military rights at the Christian Church of Jasper following service. Pastor Darrel Land will officiate. Friends may call from 1:00 until the 3:00 p.m. service time at the Christian Church of Jasper on Saturday (May 5, 2012). Memorial Contributions may be made to the Christian Church of Jasper, the American Heart Association, the Blind Association of Evansville, or the National Rifle Association.
