Mary Jane Schneider

Dateline Jasper: Mary Jane Schneider age 66 of Jasper passed away at 5:10 A.M. Saturday March 12, 2005 at Jasper Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born June 9, 1938 in Evansville IN. to: Edward and Rosella “Sally” (Krodel) Fritch. She married Ron R. Schneider August 20, 1960 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. She graduated with honors from St. Louis University where she was a member of Theta Chi Alpha and Queen of the Military Ball. She was a member of the American Speech Language Hearing Association and certified speech pathologist, who taught in the Greater Jasper School System and then entered private practice. She was active in many charitable and service organizations including the Jasper Philharmonic, Easter Seals, American Association of University Women, St. Ann Society, Daughters of Isabella, Pan Hellenic, Steinway Society of Southwest Florida and Girl Scouts. She served on the Boards of the Health Occupations Service Committee, University of Evasville Parents Club, Patoka Two Thousand. She was a founding member of the Presidents Society of Florida Gulf Coast University. She was a member of the Hoosier Hundred Club at Indiana University where she funds a tennis Scholarship annually. She designated a “major benefactor” of the Mayo Clinic Foundation, and was inducted into the DuBourg Society of St. Louis University and the Monsignor Othmar Schroeder Society in recognition of her contributions. Surviving: her husband Ron R. Schneider of Jasper. 1 daughter- Lisa (Schneider) Nelson of Fishers IN., 2 sons-Ron R. Schneider II of Bloomington IN., and Scott E. Schneider of Punta Gorda Florida. 1 brother-Dr. E. Kent Fritch of Scottsdale AZ. 5 Grandchildren-Ronnie, Alison, Alex, Adam, and Riley. Visitation will be held from 12:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Becher & Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. There will be a Rosary at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home by St. Anns Society, D of I Sodality, St. Joseph Parish and Jasper High School Class of 1956. The Jasper Philharmonic will have a Memorial Service at 5:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday March 17 2005 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper with Entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper.
