Lillian T. Beckman

Lillian T. Beckman, age 94, of St. Anthony, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, June 19, 2026, at her home. She was born in Jasper, Indiana, on June 29, 1931, to Harry and Veronica (Schnell) Roos. She married Maurice Beckman on November 26, 1953, in St Joseph Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on March 23, 2008. Lillian was a 1949 graduate from Jasper High School and attended St. Mary of the Woods College. A devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Lillian lived a life defined by faith, hard work, kindness, and unconditional love. She was the heart of her family and a beautiful example of strength, grace and quiet devotion. Though she accomplished many things in her 94 years, Lillian’s greatest legacy was the family she built. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, American Legion Auxiliary, St Anthony Christian Mothers, St Anthony Community Center, Extension Homemakers, Leagues of Gerbo Lanes, and Eastown Bowling Alley. She was a bowler until she was 90 years old. Lillian had many talents and shared them generously. She quilted, sewed, mended, and cared for her home with pride. Through her hard work and dedication, she provided fresh food from her garden and orchard to help nourish her family. She had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing while doing household chores. Her faith was an important part of her life. She was active in her church and community, giving her time and friendship to those around her. She was an avid yardsaler and enjoyed bowling for many years, working crossword puzzles, sharing stories, and she never lost her appreciation for a good joke and a reason to smile. Lillian is survived by 13 children: Ann (Jim) Nagy, Jasper; Donna (Pat) Haake, Ferdinand; Maureen (Terry) Kemper, Ferdinand; Janet Benton (Steve) Staub, St. Anthony; Teresa Beckman, St. Anthony; Rita (Curt) Uebelhor, Ferdinand; Paul Beckman, St. Anthony; Mary (Pat) Lueken, St. Anthony; Kathy (Kevin) Lueken, Schnellville; Mark (Karen) Beckman, St. Anthony; Carol (Dave) Jellison, St. Anthony; Jim Beckman, Scottsburg, Carla Whitsitt (Bobby Morgan), Hawesville, KY; 35 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Dr. Marie Roos and Anne Roos, two brothers, Victor (Betty) Roos and Reverend Richard (Jenny) Roos, and sister-in-law, Reverend Michelle Roos. Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Reverend Carl Roos and Father Paul Roos. A Mass of Christian Burial for Lillian T. Beckman will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at St. Anthony Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 26th, at the Becher Kluesner Downtown Chapel. A rosary will be prayed at 2:30 p.m. prior to the visitation.
