He was born May 29, 1926 at Boone Township to Ben and Victoria (Hopf) Sermersheim. He married Laverne Durcholz September 25, 1947. He was a Dairy Farmer in the Ireland area, He also worked at the Ireland City Dumpsters and he was a Night Watchman at Jasper Engines and Transmissions. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Ireland Sportsman Club Surviving: his wife Laverne Sermersheim of Ireland 6 sons-Reggie of Miami FL., Duane of Phoenix AZ., Daryl of Boise Idaho, Jeff of Stendal, Gary, Mark, and Nick Sermersheim all of Ireland 4 daughters-Mrs. Bernie (Connie) Helming of Jasper, Mrs. Dennis “Red” (Bonnie) Keusch of Ireland, Lori Arvin of Washington, and Carla Mathies of Huntingburg. 29 Grandchildren 16 Great Grandchildren-1 great grandchild 2 brothers-Bob Sermersheim of Jasper, John Sermersheim of Ferdinand 5 sisters-Mrs. Robert (Rose) Schnaus of Ireland, Mrs. Sylvester “Wes” (Linda) Rohleder of Jasper, Dorothy Bartley of Ireland, Mrs. Don (Rita) Werne of Plantation FL. And Betty “Bets” Fuhs of Jasper. Visitation will be held from 1:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Becher & Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday March 27, 2008 at St. Mary Catholic Church at Ireland with burial to follow at the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: St. Mary Catholic Church or your favorite charity.
