Skaggs age 90 of Haysville, Indiana died at 2:55 p.m. Sunday (June 6, 2004) at the Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born on March 20, 1914 at Huntingburg, Indiana. His parents were Henry T. and Velvia (Bufkin) Skaggs. He married Alberta J. Bernwanger on December 9, 1936, she preceded him in death on December 3, 2001.. He retired from the Clairmont Trucking Company in Jasper formerly Jasper & Chicago Motor Express. Irvin W. Skaggs was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville and a charter member of the Haysville Ruritan Club and served as a past president. Surviving are 1 daughter and 2 sons; Patricia Boeglin, Arlington, TX Robert Ray Skaggs, Eclectic, AL Bill Skaggs, Jasper, IN 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. 3 sisters; Helen Oser and Geneva Lannan both of Jasper, IN Juanita Perkins, Odessa, TX, 2 brothers; Ray Skaggs, Walton, KY and Bob Lee Skaggs, Huntingburg, IN Preceding him in death besides his wife is 1 son Charles Skaggs and 2 sisters, Iola Ferguson and Mildred Rohlman. Funeral services for Irvin W. Skaggs will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday (June 10, 2004) in Christ Lutheran Church with burial to follow in Community Cemetery in Haysville, Indiana. The Rev. Timothy Kraemer will officiate. Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m. Wednesday (June 9, 2004) at the Becher - Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper and one hour before services at the church. Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday by the Hayville Ruritan Club at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or to a favorite charity.
