Burger age 94 of Jasper died at 1:15 p.m. Monday (November 1, 2004) at the Northwood Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Jasper. She was born in Jasper, Indiana on May 17, 1910 to Charles and Frances (Burger) Fuhs. She married Leo J. Burger on June 12, 1934, he preceded her in death on April 30, 1983. Gladys Burger was a homemaker and member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, member of the Adoration group of St. Joseph’s Parish, Daughters of Isabella, St. Ann’s Society, Oblates of St. Benedict of St. Meinrad Archabbey and the St. Vincent DePaul Society. She was a charter member of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Auxiliary, Indiana Extension Home Makers Association , Victory Home Extension Club, State Farm Bureau Women’s group, the Alpha Grandmothers Club and also served as past president of the Madaleva Literary Club. She was a volunteer at the Jasper Providence Home and helath care center. Surviving are 4 daughters; Mrs. Charles “Florence” Beckman Mrs. Edward “Nancy” Kreilein both of Jasper, IN Sr. Jane Burger D.C. (Daughters of Charity) Evansville, IN Sylvia Ann Reckelhoff, Huntingburg, IN 8 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren 1 brother, Richard R. Fuhs, Kokomo, IN 1 sister, Helen Hedinger, Jasper, IN Preceding her in death besides her husband are 2 brothers, Bernard Fuhs and Leroy Fuhs. 3 sisters, Florence Vogler, Katherine Friedman and Bernice Giesler. Funeral services for Gladys M. Burger will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday (November 5, 2004) in St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m. Thursday at the Becher- Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper - 214 E. 7th St, Jasper, IN 47546. Rosary will be prayed at 3:00 p.m. Thursday by the D of I’s and the St. Ann’s Society. Office of the Dead will be held at at 4:00 p.m. by the Oblates of St. Benedict. Prayer Vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St.. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Northwood Good Samaritan Nursing Center or to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Daughters of Charity Foundation of the East Central Province - Evansville, Indiana.
