She was born at Celestine, Indiana on May 2, 1919 to John and Mary (Heichelbech) Thewes. She married Alphonse Mehringer August of 1940 , he preceded her in death on May 21, 1951. She then married Raymond G. Jochum February 14, 1953, he preceded her in death on January 20, 1992. Frances was a homemaker and member of St. Henry Catholic Church , St. Henry, Indiana and Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper. The Red Hat Society. Also a life member of the Celestine Community Club . She was an avid card player and enjoyed quiliting. Surviving, Three sons, Stanley Jochum, Jasper, IN Arnold Mehringer, Jasper, IN Cletus Mehringer, Bowie, MD Eight grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Also preceding her in death are four sisters, Theresa Henrtrup, Minnie Verkamp, Sr. Mary Rosita Thewes S.P., and Tillie Verkamp and three brothers, John, Albert and Alois Thewes. Services for Frances Jochum will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday (May 22, 2012) in Holy Family Catholic Church with entombment in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Monday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Rosary will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday by the Blessed Virgin Sodality and other members of Holy Family Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper or to Brookside Village.
