Mathies age 73 of Dubois, Indiana died at 8:00 a.m. Saturday (January 22, 2005) in the Northwood Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Jasper. He was born at Dubois, Indiana on July 8, 1931 to Fred and Eleanore Stemle Mathies. He married Adeline Reker Kempf on December 28, 1963. Elmer Mathies retired form the Jasper Engince exchange and also was a farmer at Dubois was a member of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois. Elmer was an avid card player. Surviving is his wife Adeline. 2 daughters; Mrs. Bruce “Paulette” Schilling, Jasper, IN Mrs. Kurt “Sharon Rose” Hoffman, French Lick, IN 2 sons; Michael and Paul Mathies, both Dubois, IN 1 step-son, Donald S. Kempf, Ferdinand, IN 1 grandson and 3 step grandchildren. 2 brothers, Delbert and Robert O. Mathies both of Jasper. 1 step - brother, Leonard Heeke, Celestine, IN Preceding him in death are 2 sisters, Mary Lee Lueken and Betty Jean Mathies who died infancy. Funeral services for Elmer Mathies will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday (January 25, 2005) in St. Raphael’s Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 1 - 8 p.m. Monday at the Becher - Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Memorial service at 3:00 p.m. Monday by members of St. Raphael’s Parish. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Raphael Catholic Church in Dubois or to Northwood Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Jasper.
