Sermersheim age 97 of Jasper died at 4:40 a.m. today (Monday July 9, 2007) at the Providence Home Health Care Center in Jasper. She was born at Jasper Indiana on January 29, 1910 to Anton and Veronica (Schneider) Bockelman –married to Herbert W. Sermersheim on August 27, 1935, he preceded her in death on November 13, 1960. Eleanor Sermersheim worked for the Sisters of Providence as a cook for many years and later worked for the Providence Home Health Care Center in Jasper. (She was the second female resident to reside at the Providence Home in Jasper. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church – Daughters of Isabella – St. Ann Society – Achievement Homemakers Club – Jasper Moose Lodge – V.F.W. Auxiliary to Post # 673 – AARP – Member of the Jasper Kitchen band. (she played a washboard.) Surviving, 3 daughters, Virginia (Virgie) Mundy, Jasper, IN Mrs. Bill (Carol J. ) Akles, Oakland City, IN Jane Bell, Jasper, IN 1 son, Joseph Sermersheim, Jasper, IN Foster Son, Fred Bockelman Jr., Milledgeville, GA 2 half brothers, Anton J. Bockelman, Jasper, IN and Harold Bockelman, Ferdinand, IN and 2 half sisters, Mrs. Cletus (Ardella) Luebbehusen, Ferdinand, IN and Mrs. Jerry (Joan) Oeding, Jasper, IN 28 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren 1 great great grandchildren Preceding her in death besides her husband is 1 son Eugene Sermersheim – son in Law Kenneth Bell – Step-daughter, Lavern Fleck -1 great grandson – sister, Virgina Bockelman who died in infancy – Half sister, Dorothy Horney – 3 brother, Fred Bockelman Sr., Claude Bockelman and Sylvester Bockelman Funeral services for Eleanor Sermersheim will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday (July 12. 2007) in St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday (July 11, 2007) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, IN. Rosary at 3:00 p.m. by the D of I’s and the St.Ann’s Society – 6:30 p.m. V.F.W. Auxiliary Memorial Service and at 7:00 p.m. by the Jasper Moose Lodge # 1175. Memorail contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Providence Home and Health Care Center or to a favorite charity.
