Knies age 98 of Jasper died at 6:50 p.m. Monday (March 14, 2005) in the Providence Home Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born on July 23, 1906 at Celestine, Indiana to Bernard and Elizabeth (Merter) Knies. He married Stella Fuhs November 25, 1943 she preceded him in death on January 5, 1969. Alois Knies was a retired farmer and member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper and the Men’s Society. Surviving are his caregivers, Paul & Carol Knies, Perry & Jane Knies and Jerry & Sharon Burger all of Jasper, IN Also several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death besides his wife is 1 son, John Knies and 5 brothers and 3 sisters; Herman, Joseph, Frank, and Anthony Knies and Ben J. Knies, Mary Schroering, Anna Striegel and Sr. Mary Nativity Knies OSC. Funeral services for Alois Knies will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday (March 18, 2005) in Precious Blood Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m. Thursday at the Becher - Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Rosary at 4:00 p.m. Thursday by members of Precious Blood Catholic Church and the Precious Blood Men’s Society. Memorial contributions may be made to Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper or to the Providence Home Health Care Center in Jasper.
