Dateline Jasper, Indiana Susan M. Habig, age 69, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 2:43 p.m. on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at her home surrounded by family. Susan was born in Jasper, Indiana, on January 6, 1953, to Victor J. and Augusta H. (Eckerle) Wagner. She married Steve Habig on September 9, 2009. Susan was an incredibly loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was third of nine children. She was raised in a loving, vibrant home, and continued to pass that love forward to her three sons. With a continual heart towards family and friends, Susan exhibited an infectious vitality and energy for life and caring for others. Susan was a 1971 graduate of Jasper High School. She attended Indiana State University where she received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in education. Susan became a beloved teacher in the Jasper school system, retiring in 2009. She served throughout the community as a volunteer, coach, mentor, and friend. A follower of Jesus, Susan was a volunteer at Head Start, Love in Action, Borrowed Hearts and a member of Shiloh Church. Surviving is her husband, Steve Habig, Jasper, IN, three sons; Adam (Alisha) Seger, Franklin, TN, Joseph (Jennifer) Seger, Richmond, IN, Jonathan (Kaisi) Seger, Jasper, IN, 10 grandchildren; Lucille, Cora, Charles, Courtney, Caiden, Caleb, Samuel, Mae, Rose, and Walker, five sisters; Sarah Zoglman, Marlene Schwartz, Elaine Schitter, Vicki ‘ O’Brien, and Kriss Gross, three brothers; Howard, Luke, and John Wagner. Susan also dearly loved all of her extended family including numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Nana will be greatly missed. Preceding her in death are her parents, father-in-law, Jerome Habig, and mother-in-law, Dolores Habig. Funeral services for Susan M. Habig will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2022, in Shiloh Church in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper, Indiana. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 4, 2022, in Shiloh Church and from 9:00 a.m. until the 10:00 a.m. service time at the church on Saturday, February 5.
