Dateline Ireland, Indiana Ruth E. Sermersheim, age 82, of Ireland, Indiana, passed away at 12:40 a.m. on Sunday, January 3, 2021, in St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper, Indiana. Ruth was born in Ireland, Indiana, on January 6, 1938, to Roy and Lorena (Fuhrman) Freyberger. She married Eugene C. Sermersheim on January 31, 1957, in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana. He preceded her in death on March 6, 1995. Ruth was a 1956 graduate of Ireland High School. She worked in local factories, cleaned houses, and babysat. Ruth was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses. Ruth enjoyed her cats and spending time with family. She loved mowing her yard and taking care of her flowers. Surviving are her two children, Mike (Cheryl) Sermersheim, Ireland, IN, Deb (Roger) Knies, Celestine, IN, six grandchildren, Daniel Sermersheim, Abby Dupps, Jaleigh Becher, Brittany Schnell, Erin Terwiske, Shayla Land, 11 great grandchildren, one sister Sandra (Sonny) Lents, Jasper, IN, and one brother Roy Freyberger Jr., Otwell, IN. Preceding her in death besides her husband are two children, Becky Kempf and Mark Sermersheim, and one sister, Annie Sendelweck. Private family services will be held.
