Rufus Streicher Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Rufus E. Streicher age 86 of Jasper passed away at 1:05 P.M. Sunday March 14, 2004 at Jasper Memorial Hospital. He was born October 28, 1917 in Jasper to: Anthony and Clara (Hochgesang) Striecher. He married Bertha Scherer July 21, 1945. She passed away July 5, 1984. Memberships include: St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph Holy Name Society, VFW Post 673, American Legion Post 147 and he was a WW2 Veteran . He worked at Jasper Desk Co. for 49 years-Retired Surviving: 3 sons- Larry of Jasper, Ken of Washington IN., and Jerry of Princeton IN. 2 daughters-Mrs. Joe (Sue) Seal of Jasper, and Mrs. Ed (Mary) Sheets of Noblesville IN. 2 brothers-Linus and Jerome Streicher both of Jasper 1 sister-Mildred Horney of Jasper 14 Grandchildren 2 Great Granddaughters a friend-Ella Mae Nigg of Jasper. Preceded in death besides his wife are 4 sisters-Marcella Klein, Lucille Merkle, Bert Borho, and Lila Templeton. Visitation will be held from 1:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Becher & Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. There will be a Parish Rosary at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday March 17, 2004 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. VFW Post 673 will conduct the Military Grave Side Rites. Memorial contributions may be made to: St. Joseph Catholic Church or your favorite charity.
