He was born on November 11, 1918 in Huntingburg, Indiana to Joseph and Frances (Hedinger) Messmer. He married Frieda Welp Bellner on September 20, 1997. Pete was a WWII Army Air force Veteran and retired from the Jasper Cabinet Company in Jasper. He is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church – V.F.W. Post # 673 – American Legion Post # 147. For many years he served on the Military Funeral Detail Detachment squad for both the V.F.W. and American Legion posts. He is a past commander of the V.F.W. Post #673. Both V.F.W Post # 673 and American Legion Post # 147 will conduct Military Grave Side Rites. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. (EST)Sunday at the Becher & Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
