Dateline Mariah Hill IN.: Fr. Paul L. Roos age 70 of Mariah Hill passed away at 12:05 P.M. Monday January 17, 2005 at Brookside Village Nursing Home in Jasper. He was born October 29, 1934 in Celestine In. to: Harry P. and Veronica M. (Schnell) Roos. Most recently he was Pastor at Mary Help of Christians in Mariah Hill, and St. John Chrysostom in New Boston IN. Past Parishes include:Sacred Heart in Evansville,St. Theresa in Evansville St. Clements in Booneville, St. Joseph in Jasper, Hospital Chaplain at St. Marys and Deaconess Hospital in Evansville,St. Phillip in Bicknell IN.,All Saints in Cannelburg IN., St. Martin in Chrisney. Ordained at St. Meinrad May 27, 1961. He was the International Chaplain for the Knights of St. John obtaining the rank of Brigadeer General, Diocesan Chaplain of Girls Scouts, and he was a fund raising coordinator for Cystic Fibrosis, Paul had a special love for service to the poor and he loved the take communion to shut-ins. Earlier in his life his prowess for sports was legendary. Surviving:3 brothers-Carl Roos of Vincennes, Vic Roos of Floyd Knobs IN., and Richard Roos of Indianapolis. 3 sisters-Marie Roos of Madison Mississippi, Anne Roos of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Maurice (Lillian) Beckman of St. Anthony IN. 20 Nieces and Nephews Preceded in death by 1 sister Leona Roos who died in infancy. Visitation will be held from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Friday at the Becher & Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. There will be a Wake Service at 7:30 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday January 22, 2005 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper with burial to follow in Mary Help of Christians Cemetery in Mariah Hill IN.
