Othmar Klem was born at St. Anthony, Indiana on June 26, 1913 to Bernard and Mary (Burke) Klem. He married Mildred M. Kippenbrock on August 9, 1938, She preceded him in death on January 22, 2000. Othmar B. Klem was founder of the Othmar Klem Furniture Company in St. Anthony in 1933. As a lifelong member St. Anthony Catholic Church, he served on the Parish Council , Finance Commission, and the Cemetery Board . His memberships include the St. Vincent DePaul Society and Holy Name Society . He was the recipient of the Diocese of Evansville Brute Award in 1998. Member of the 4th degree knight, Knight of Columbus, Jasper, IN. Life member of Einsiedeln Society (St. Meinrad Archabbey ) and the Benedictine Society (Sister of St. Benedict). Charter member of the St. Anthony Community Center, Past director of St. Anthony Water Utilities - and member of St. Anthony Conservation Club and the Ferdinand Community Center. He was an avid gardener. Surviving are 3 daughters Carol and Charles Bone, Evansville, IN Mary Susan Klem, Louisville, KY Marian and Marc Anderson, DePere, WI 5 sons, Richard and Mary Helen (Miller) Klem Dan and Diana (Brockway) Klem , Louisville, KY Jim and Barbara (Souders) Klem, Jasper, IN Bill and Sally (Pauckner) Klem, , St. Anthony, IN John and Becky (Hauser) Klem, St. Anthony, IN 24 grandchildren; Anne Mary & Eduardo Montero, Michelle Klem, Patrick Klem, Katherine Klem, Christine & John Lubbehusen, Eric Klem, Greg & Beth Klem, Todd & Amy Klem, Beth Klem, David & Joni Klem, Sarah Klem, Matthew Klem, Mike & Janice Bone, Pat & Kelli Bone, Jeff & Paula Bone, Timothy Klem, Nathan Shelburne, Suzanne Shelburne, Robert Anderson, Katherine Anderson, Lauren Anderson, Jennifer Anderson, Laura Klem, Jonathan Klem and 9 great grandchildren; Antonio Montero, Philip Lubbehusen, Stephen Lubbehusen, Elizabeth Klem, Katherine Klem, Andrew Klem, Alexandra Patterson, Evan Bone and Owen Bone. 2 sisters, Gertrude Hulsman, Clara Jahn both of St. Anthony, IN Preceding him in death besides his wife are 1 daughter Teresa Ann Klem and 3 brothers, Hilbert, Richard and Urban Klem. Funeral services for Othmar Klem will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday (October 22, 2005) in St. Anthony Catholic Church with burial to follow in St. Anthony Cemetery. Friends may call from Noon - 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Becher - Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church or to the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
