Mark A. Dunkel

Mark A. Dunkel, age, 57, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at home. Mark was born in Jasper, Indiana, on December 7, 1968, to Charles and Patricia (Fehribach) Dunkel. He married Julie Crawford in English, Indiana. He will always be remembered for the love, kindness, and affection he showed to his family, friends, and especially his grandchildren. His warm spirit and the connections he made with those around him will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Mark faced stage four renal cancer with remarkable strength and courage. Throughout his battle, his resilience and determination were an inspiration to those around him. He was a 1988 Crawford County High School graduate. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper. He enjoyed all styles of mustangs, woodworking, and spending time with his grandchildren. Mark’s love for his family, his courage, and the memories he created with those around him will never be forgotten. He will be deeply missed and forever loved. He is survived by his beloved wife, Julie Crawford-Dunkel, Jasper; his mother, Patricia Dunkel, Jasper; father, Charles Dunkel, Taswell; brother, Randy Dunkel; sister, Mary (Todd) Blake, Indianapolis; nieces: Kelsey Blake, Chicago; Kendall (Brian) Bacon, Chicago; and Kamryn Blake, Indianapolis. Mark is lovingly remembered by his stepchildren, Morgan (Joel) of Saint Anthony and Roman (Sierra) Reyling of Birdseye; his grandchildren, Zander, Hadlie, Khaleesi, and Nyle Reyling-Schwartz, and Oliver Reyling; and countless friends whose lives he touched. Mark was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Dunkel. A Mass of Christian Burial for Mark A. Dunkel will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in Enlow City Cemetery in Jasper. A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana. A second visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. service time at Holy Family Catholic Church on Friday.
