Becherkluesnerfuneralhomes.com Becherkluesner@insightbb.com 812-482-4141 Dateline Santa Claus, Indiana Marguerite (Marge) Walker, 90, Santa Claus, Indiana (formerly of Indianapolis) lost her courageous battle with cancer on March 3, 2010, dying peacefully at her home. She was born in Flat Rock, Indiana on August 19, 1919 to Roma and Alma (Spurlin) Parsley. She was a member of Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ, Indianapolis. Surviving are one daughter, Timmie (William) Westfall, Santa Claus, IN 1 granddaughter, Amy (Daniel) Rexroth, and great-granddaughters, Grace Louise and Sadie Rose Rexroth, all of Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Walker, and sisters, Kathleen Stone and Evelyn Marshall. Also surviving are one sister, Jacque Wilson, Sanford, North Carolina and nieces and nephews. Marguerite was a published “world-class” cook, well-known for hr winning entries in both national and local competitions; from the Pillsbury Cook-Off to the Indiana State Fair. Archway produced her winning contest cookies, which were sold off the grocery store shelves for others to enjoy. Her lengthy work life included positions at Schwitzer-Cummins, RCA, Indianapolis Morris Plan, The Statewide Adult Education Resource Center and the Gallagher-Westfall Group of Indiana. She worked for her son-in-law until very recently, joking that he fired “Marge in charge” from her fourth retirement job! Family times were the best times for Marge who so enjoyed her granddaughter and great –granddaughters. Her sense of humor was appreciated by all who knew her. Her close relationship with her daughter was very special. “We were always together; from my dance recitals as a child through all of life’s hurdles.” Timmie Marge’s love of animals and nature was a great joy in her daily life. Keeping the menagerie of wildlife around her home well fed was very important to her. She was an avid football fan, always cheering for Notre Dame and the Indianapolis Colts. Committal services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday (March 6, 2010) in Crown Hill Cemetery (Gothic Chapel) at Indianapolis, Indiana . A celebration of Marges’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Home for Friendless Animals, P.O. Box 217, Waynetown, IN 47990. Condolences to the family will be welcomed at Becherkluesnerfuneralhomes.com.
