Brames age 88 of Jasper died at 1:50 p.m. Friday (July 15, 2005) at the Brookside Village Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born on July 19, 1916 at St. Anthony, Indiana to Frederick and Anna (Verkamp) Brames. He married Bertha O. Schmitt on September 15, 1945 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana. John Brames retired from the Jasper Cabinet Company on January 1, 1980 where he had worked for 40 years. He was a charter member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society, also member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Vincent DePaul Society and a recipient of the Diocese of Evansville Brute Award. Surviving is his wife Bertha 3 daughters; Mrs. Richard “Judy” Kluesner, Loogootee, IN Carolyn Taylor, Plainfield, IN Mrs. Tom “Janice” Werner, Batesville, IN 2 sons, Marvin Brames and spouse “Jackie” Greenwood, IN Michael O. Brames and spouse “Nancy”, St. Louis, MO 9 grandchildren 1 great granddaughter Several nieces and nephews He was the last surviving member of the Frederick and Anna Brames Family. Preceding him in death are 2 brothers, Herman Brames and Albert Brames and 4 sisters, Helen Buechler, Sr. Beatrice Brames O.S.B., Mary Gunselman and Amelia Brames. Funeral services for John Brames will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday (July 18, 2005) in Holy Family Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. Friends may call from 11- 8 p.m. Sunday at the Becher - Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Prayer Vigil will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday by members of Holy Family Parish. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Church or to a favorite charity.
