Dateline Jasper: Jerome Schneider age 84 of Jasper passed away at 4:02 P.M. Thursday April 9, 2009 at Jasper Memorial Hospital. He was born March 30, 1925 at Jasper to: John and Mayme (Dudine) Schneider He married Doris Kremp July 19, 1951 Mr. Schneider attended the University of Notre Dame and graduated from California Institute of Technology, served in the U.S. Navy as a lieutenant in Civil Engineering Corps, taught Mathematics and Latin at Jasper High School, practiced as a Civil Engineer and Land Surveyer, was an entrepreneur with automatic car washes in Jasper, Huntingburg, and Evansville. Raised pure bred Arabian horses. He served 4 termsas Dubois County Surveyer and served 25 years on the Jasper City Planning Board serving as City Engineer and 25 years on the Jasper Chamber traffic committee. He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, a member of St. Joseph Parish Council, a 4th Degree Member of the K of C, a member of the Holy Name Society, the Father Brute Society, Serra Club, Eucharistic Adoration Committee. The American Legion, Charter member and 2nd president of the Jasper Jaycees. Mr. Schneider was an Eagle Scout and a recipient of the Eddie Rottet Memorial Award. Surviving: his wife Doris Schneider of Jasper 4 daughters-Ann Schneider of Indianapolis,Mrs. Howard (Sharon) Wagner of Dubois, Mrs. Daniel (Catherine) Seifert of Union KY. and Maureen Schneider of Evansville 5 sons-Steven Schneider of Carmel, Andrew Schneider of Tucson AZ.,Joseph Schneider of Noblesville, Robert Schneider of Jasper and Luke Schneider ofTuxtla, Mexico 2 sisters-Rita Mae Sermersheim of Indianapolis, Camilla Goehausen of Leawood Kansas 18 Grandchildren 3 great grandchildren Preceded in death by 4 brothers- Fr. Ambrose Schneider, Ralph, Maurice, Norbert Schneider, infant sisters-Dorothy and Camilla Schneider, 1 granddaughter Angela Visitation will be held from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Monday at the Becher & Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Funeral service will be held at 9:30 A.M. Tuesday April 14, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to; Jerome and Doris Family Endowment Fund for the benefit of Missionaries of the Poor, Catholic Medical Missions and Dubois County Right to Life or may be made to Christel House International
