He was born in Jasper on September 26, 1931 to Albert and Anna Mary (Lechner) Hopf. He married Dolores O. Knies on June 18, 1955. Jim Hopf was a U.S. Army Korean Veteran and retired from Krempp Lumber Company in Jasper where he worked as a construction superintendent. He is a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church . The Holy Name Society, Jasper Knights of Columbus and the American Legion Post # 147. Surviving is his wife, Dolores Hopf 4 daughters, Mrs. Dave (Sheila ) Pund, Huntingburg, IN Mrs. Jeff (Marla ) Hochgesang and Mrs. Reynold (Pamela ) Wagner both of Jasper, IN Donna Hopf, Indianapolis, IN 1 son, David Hopf, Jasper, IN 10 grandchildren 1 brother, Thomas Hopf and spouse Marian, Jasper, IN 2 sisters, Doris Kidwell, Washington, DC Mrs. Arnold (Alice) Kluesner, Jasper, IN Preceding him in death besides his parents are 1 granddaughter Elizabeth Pund and 1 sister, Rosemary “Rosie” Burger. Funeral services for James Hopf will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday April 3, 2009) in St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. American Legion Post # 147 will conduct military grave side rites. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday (April 2, 2009) at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Palliative Care of Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper , Southern Care Hospice or to Fairview Cemetery Association.
