Becher - Kluesner Funeral Home, Inc. 812-482-4141 Dateline Jasper: Jack E. Newton age 77 of Jasper passed away at 10:44 a.m. Friday November 28, 2003 at Jasper Memorial Hospital. He was born May 17, 1926 in New Albany IN. to: Harold and Eunice (Haley) Newton. He married Rose Marie Gramelspacher October 28, 1950. Surviving: his wife-Rose Marie Newton of Jasper. 2 sons-Scott of Indianapolis, and Jerry of New York City. 2 daughters-Jody Clem of Jasper, and Mrs. Rich (Jean) Vonderhaar of Indianapolis, 7 Grandchildren Preceded in death by 2 brothers-David and Gillum Newton. Visitation will be held from 12:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at the Becher & Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday December 2, 2003 at the Firast Presbyterian Church in Jasper with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper. There will be a 1 hour visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church. The American Legion Post 147 will conduct the Military Grave Side Rites. Memorial contributions may be made to: 1st Presbyterian Church in Jasper or the Dubois County Foundation. Education: Jasper High School Class of 1944 and attended Indiana University. Religion: Elder at First Presbyterian Church in Jasper. Occupation: 1949-1958 Partner with father in distribution of Gulf Oil Products in Dubois and surrounding counties. 1958 Purchased the business from his father 1972 formed JENCO Oil and Gas Inc. as an independant wholesale petroleum marketer. 1984 sold out the wholesale portion of JENCO Oil 1984-1990 owned and operated 2 JENCO self serve stations in Jasper. Served on the Board of Directors of the Jasper Wood Products Co. Former Board member of the Dubois County Bank Memberships: Jasper Kiwanis Club, Jasper Chamber of Commerce, Jasper Action Team, American Legion Post 147, the 40 & 8, Masonic Lodge, Hadi Shrine, Jasper Country Club, and Sigma Chi Fraternity.
