Eck age 72 of Boone Township died at 12:20 a.m. today (Thursday March 10, 2005) in the Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Boone Township, Indiana on September 25, 1932 to John and Tinnia (Grossman) Eck. He married twice; first wife, Wilma Mann who preceded him in death on July 30, 1985. His 2nd marriage to Jean Fehribach Schepers on April 23, 1989 in Boone Township, Indiana. Captain Harold C. Eck, Retired USAF was a Korean and Vietnam Air Force Veteran serving in the military for 26 years serving with the rank of Captain After retirement from the military he started the Eck Trucking Company in Jasper. His memberships include St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boone Township - V.F.W. Post # 673 and the American Legion Post # 147 in Jasper. Surviving is his wife Jean Eck. 2 daughters, Mrs. Andrew “Linda” Washburn, Boone Township,IN Mrs. Brent “Amanda” Kubala, Houston, TX 1 son, Michael Eck, Jasper, IN 1 step daughter, Mrs. Steve “Donna” Humbert, Nashville, TN 4 step-sons; Keith, Rick and Bruce Schepers, all Jasper, In Glen Schepers, Celestine, In 10 grandchildren and step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren 1 brother, Eugene Eck, Louisville, IL 1 half sister, Elnora M. Eisenhut, Haysville, IN also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death besides his parents are 2 half sisters, Thelma Teague and Leona Potts and 4 half brothers; Leonard, Arthur, Austin and Floyd Eck. Funeral services for Harold C. Eck will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday (March 13, 2005) in St. John’s Lutheran Church with burial to follow in St. John’s Cemetery in Boone Township. The Rev. Richard Vonesh will officiate. V.F.W. Post # 673 in Jasper will conduct Military Grave Side Rites. Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m. Saturday at the Becher - Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper and 1 hour before services at church on Sunday.
