Becher - Kluesner Funeral Home, Inc. 812-482-4141 Dateline Jasper, Indiana Eugene F. Gerber age 78 of Jasper died at 3:25 a.m. today (Monday January 5, 2004) in the Heritage House of Jasper. He was born at Jasper, Indiana on August 16, 1925. His parents; August and Helen (Kraft) Gerber. He married Betty Jones on June 15, 1968. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and serving in the Merchant Marines after WWII for 13 years. He retired from Kimball International where he worked for 17 years in the maintenance department at the Jasper Stylemasters. He also worked as a House Parent for the Young Residence Center formerly in Jasper. He is a member of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church and formerly of Holy Family Catholic Church - American Legion Post # 147 - Jasper Lion’s Club (while living in Florida he served as Vice-President of the Lion’s Club in Palmetto, FL Surviving are his wife Betty. 2 daughters; Mrs. Ed “Donna”Resenbeck Neukam, Jasper, IN Mrs. Greg “Diana” Resenbeck Burch, Hopkinsville, KY 2 sons; Joe Resenbeck, Manhatten, Kansas Doug Resenbeck, San Diego, CA 10 grandchildren 11 great grandchildren. 1 brother; Hilbert Gerber, Loogootee, IN. 2 sister; Dorothy Manley, Mrs. Ed “Betty” Nigg, both of Jasper, IN Preceding him in death are 2 brothers; Wilfred and Andrew Gerber and 1 half bro. Walter Kraft. Funeral services for Eugene Gerber will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in Holy Family Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. American Legion Post # 147 will conduct Military Grave Side Rites. Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Becher - Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contribution may be made to St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois or to Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper or to the Heritage House Alzheimer Activities Center.
