Schroering-Lueken, age 89, of Jasper, Indiana passed away at 3:45 a.m. on Wednesday (October 30, 2013) at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. Dorothy was born at St. Anthony, Indiana on February 1, 1924 to Frank and Anna (Striegel) Friedman. Her first marriage was to Cornelius Schroering on August 2, 1947 He preceded her in death in March 20, 1987. She then married Norbert L. Lueken on October 10, 1998. He preceded her in death on May 2, 2012. Dorothy worked at Wal Mart in Jasper and previously for 3D Department Store Jasper. She also worked at Touch of Class, Parket Market in Jasper, the American Legion. Prior to this, she worked at General Electric in Huntingburg. During WWII she helped build airplane wings at the Japer Wood Products Company. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Jasper Circle of the Daughters of Isabella, and the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries. She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. Surviving, Two daughters, Pamela Doane and husband Patrick, Jasper, IN Marietta Foster and husband Patrick, Washington, IN Two sons, Glen Schroering, Phoenix, AZ Tim Schroering and his wife Roz, Winona, MN One step daughter, Deborah Lannan, and her husband Steven, Jasper, IN One step son, Greg J. Lueken, and his wife Sherril, Jasper, IN Eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, four step grandchildren, and one step great grandchild. Preceding her in death besides her husbands are three brothers, Ermin and Vic Friedman, and Robert Friedman who died in infancy, also two sisters, Helen Underwood and Selma Merkley. Funeral services for Dorothy M. Luken will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday (November 5, 2013) at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper. Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday (November 4, 2013) at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. The Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary will pray the rosary at 1:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, or to a favorite charity.
